Job-search safety

Verify the opportunity before you trust the request.

Legitimate employers expect reasonable questions. Slow down when a recruiter creates urgency, asks for money, or requests sensitive information before you can confirm who they are.

Confirm the company and recruiter

Find the employer's official website independently. Compare the recruiter's email domain, name, telephone number, and job description with information published by the company. Contact the company through a number you found yourself when anything does not match.

Protect identity and banking details

An initial application generally does not require your Social Security number, bank login, payment-card number, full birth date, or an image of your identification. Verified employers may request tax and banking information after hiring through a secure onboarding process.

Never pay to receive a job

Do not buy gift cards, send cryptocurrency, wire money, or deposit a check and return part of it. Be cautious when someone insists that you purchase equipment from a specific seller before the employer and offer have been independently verified.

Evaluate interviews and offers

Text-only interviews, immediate offers without meaningful questions, unusually high pay for simple work, and pressure to move to an unfamiliar messaging app are warning signs. Ask for a scheduled call and written details from a company address.

Review every destination

Targeted Jobs Alert may link to external providers. A link is not an endorsement or a guarantee that a role remains open. Read the destination's terms and privacy policy, confirm the employer, and report suspicious content to the provider and to us.

If something goes wrong

Save messages, receipts, and screenshots. Contact your financial institution promptly if money was transferred, change compromised passwords, and report identity theft or fraud to the appropriate government service. You can also email support@targetedjobsalert.com about a link found here.
